Trekking Salento – Potosí – Pereira

A journey that will take us through the three departments of the Coffee Region, high in the paramuna mountains.

A journey that will take us through the three departments of the Coffee Region, high in the páramo mountains. We will begin in the department of Quindío and cross into the department of Caldas. We will discover magical places filled with water, forests, frailejones (Espeletia plants), and imposing mountains that are part of the Central Cordillera of the Colombian Andes.

  • Cocora Valley, cloud forest, and mountain farms.
  • Cerro Chispas
  • Otún Lagoon, valley of frailejones and wetlands.
  • Paramo ecosystems

Itinerary / Daily Schedule

Day 1. 7:00 AM

We will meet in Salento at 7:00 am for breakfast, then we will travel to the Cocora Valley by vehicle, afterwards we will begin the hike through the forest that will take us to the La Argentina farm. Cocora Valley – La Argentina farm (10 km – 6 hrs. approx.)

Day 2. 5:00 AM

We will have breakfast very early, then we will head towards the moor to go in search of Cerro Chispas, after spending some time at the top of this pointed mountain we will continue to the Berlin farm. La Argentina farm – Chispas hill – Berlin farm (9 km – approx. 7 hrs)

Day 3.

We will have breakfast very early, pack our backpacks and begin the ascent towards the El Bosque trail, later we will visit the beautiful Laguna del Otún and travel to the Potosí trail where a 4×4 jeep will be waiting to take us to the city of Pereira. Berlin farm – Otún Lagoon – Potosí (21 km – approx. 8 hrs.)
