This grand journey will reveal the immensity and beauty of the Coffee Region’s mountains. We will explore the Cocora Valley, its wax palm forests, and the surrounding páramo ecosystems. We will also traverse part of Colombia’s Central Mountain Range, taking us from Quindío to the department of Risaralda, and finally descend into the forested Otún River basin.

Itinerary / Daily Schedule
Day 1. 7:00 AM
The meeting point will be in Salento at 7:00 for breakfast, afterwards we will travel to the Cocora Valley by vehicle, then we will begin the hike along the trail in the middle of the cloud forest, which will take us to the La Argentina farm. Cocora Valley – La Argentina farm (10 km – 6 hrs. approx.)
Day 2.
We will have breakfast very early, then we will depart for the moorland, an ecosystem through which we will travel for a large part of the journey that will take us to Cerro Chispas and finally to the El Jordán farm. La Argentina farm – Jordan farm – (14 km – approx. 7 hrs.)
Day 3.
We will have breakfast very early, pack our backpacks and begin the descent towards El Cedral through the wooded basin of the Otún River, where a 4×4 jeep will be waiting for us. After lunch, we will continue to the city of Pereira. Jordan farm – El Cedral – Pereira (14 km – approx. 6 hrs.)
