Itinerary / Daily Schedule

Day 1. 4:00 AM

The meeting will be in the city of Pereira at 4:00 am to begin the journey to Potosí where we will have breakfast, afterwards we will enter the Los Nevados Park and travel to the El Cisne visitor center where we will stay, then we will do our acclimatization hike to the altitude on the Laguna Verde trail, after this we will have our equipment workshop where we will learn how to use them for our progression on the glacier and finally we will have dinner and get ready to rest. Laguna Verde Trail (5 km – approx. 3 hrs.)

Day 2. 1:30 AM

We will have an alpine-style breakfast at 1:30 am, then we will depart for the Climate Change Trail to begin our attempt to summit the Santa Isabel snow-capped mountain. Once we reach the summit, we will descend back to the parking lot and travel to the Potosí sector where we will have a delicious lunch, and afterwards we will return to the city of Pereira. Hat, thermal gloves, and waterproof gloves.
Sunglasses with UV protection, lip balm, sunscreen, and a hat. A layered clothing system specifically designed for the summit, from head to toe:
– Base layer: breathable (quick-drying)
– Mid layer: warm (thermal or fleece)
– Outer layer: waterproof (rain jacket and pants). A thermal base layer for sleeping.
Trekking or mountaineering boots specifically for the summit and wading boots or other types of boots for the first day of trekking. It is recommended to wear one size larger than your normal shoe size for improved comfort with an insole and two pairs of socks. Lightweight sandals for relaxing.
A complete change of clothes, preferably quick-drying pants and breathable sweatshirts, extra underwear, and extra socks.
Basic toiletries, a lightweight microfiber towel, and personal medication if required.
Headlamp, backpack (minimum 30 liters), water bottle (not single-use plastic) or hydration pack (minimum 2 liters), and sandals for relaxing.
This activity is not permitted for individuals with heart or respiratory conditions, high blood pressure, or pregnant women.
Participants must be in good physical condition or have 30 days of prior preparation.
Provide truthful and reliable information when completing reservation forms and medical forms.
Attending the meeting the day before at the agreed-upon meeting point is recommended to clarify any questions. Bring all the basic items required for the activity, plus personal identification; otherwise, this may cause problems during the expedition.
